I got charged with dui and i am very confused because i was not in a car i didn't have any keys on me or anything and i always thought you had to be caught driving or under the wheel to get a dui. See what happened was there had been a domestic dispute and i had called the law and knew they were coming but it takes so long for cops to get to my house way out in the country that i had left the house and went about a mile down the road to a friends house to get out of the situation and i seen the state police drive on by tried to flag him down but he didn't see me but the ambulance which was a few seconds behind him did see me and stopped so the cops had to turn around and come back but anyway by the time the cops got there the paramedics already had me i was not in a car i didn't even have a set of keys on me since i had laid them down in my friends house but the cops came to the hospital and charged me with dui. How can they do this when they never seen me driving never seen me in a car and never even seen me with a set of keys in my hand. They paper says i told them i drove down there but i was beaten and bloody i had a concusion a cut bad enough for 3 stitches and a broken hand i was in shock and pain i don't remember telling them i drove to my friends house but in all honesty i was so upset i could have told them anything. How can they charge me with a dui in this situation? Can anyone shed some light on this for me? Thanks
