I am going through a contested divorce, and my wife and I are at least trying to settle our issues with the house and retirement benefits, etc, etc, without an attorney. She works for the state so does not pay into social security. I do pay social security. Should the present value of my social security be factored into my retirement benefits? We have been married for over 10 years so I thought she was entitled to half of my social security at retirement anyway.
