Doctor never called with lab results
Hello- I need advice! In February i went to a WIC center a division of the ER with what I though to have been a spider bite! The would was cultured cleaned and I was placed on Bactrin (antibiotics) The facility never called me with the lab results...the antibiotics seemed to have cleared up the would and I assumed I am fine. aprrox 6 weeks later 3 more "spider bite" looking wounds appeared..... extremely painful and very infected! I called the ER WIC to get in touch with a nurse to explain the so called bite has now spread to three other areas....My stomach had a knot the size of a golf ball that was draining like a faucet(gross I know) I had been very tired and headaches which I chalked up to stress.... I being a very causious person cleaned the area well and kept it covered. The woman who answered the phone on "Saturday" went to retrieve my lab results since I explained the re-occurance. She stated she was unable to read the results due to the long words but would have the nurse call me....I explained to please have them call me I am in a lot of pain and very worried. No call back...... Monday I called the same office and the lady told me my lab results were not there???? I needed to call the ER medical records to obtain them......Called there and they told me I needed to call back the WIC and they should have them..... Finally I spoke to a nurse who then told me my lab results came back with a staph infection calles MRSA that I should see them right away or casll my primary! Hmmmm now its urgent to see someone.... MRSA is :a bacteria resistant to antibiotics as is the case with MRSA they can spread to cause pneumonia bone infections or life-threatening infections of the bloodstream. This is also VERY contageous! Keep in mind I have a small child in my homw and have been in contact with my elderly Nana who is ill and my other family members. MRSA has already been dubbed "the Superbug" I could go on and on about this terribly disease but my question is ......was the facility responsible in calling me to ensure I get proper treatment....and also not to spread this infection??? People are very sick and some die from this if left untreated! I finally went to me GP who sent me for extensive lab work sent me to Infecteous Disease and now I am on a heavy regiment of antiobiotics weekly lab work and have to take serious precaution not to spread this disease! For all I know this could have already done damage internally and I wont know until it happens. They Key to this disease to control it is to catch it early and treat it properly! What if any legal grounds do I have with this facility for not warning me of this??????? Thanks for your help\ Marie
