Unhappy Do I have ANY RIGHTS ?

The basics of this rambling thread is the question if people like me...the children of parents....who are still living at the property have ANY rights ??

YES---The property is owned by the parents. A 3rd party (another child) can come here and do anything they want including trashing of others property ?? Others property ? I'm still living here. Is my cell phone (geezzz I don't even have one) actually my parents or mine ? Is my computer my parents ?? Is anything 'mine' ??

YES--I presume the parents can decide they don't want something but that is not even the issue. A 3rd party can come here and deal with my things and the parents have given NO PERMISSION for such. They can trash my underwear with no permission from anyone ?? oooooo---I live here but every item I bought/saved is NOT MINE ???

c/c/p from another message board ----

>>>>>>>>>>>>

I can't seem to find a proper board to ask my questions.

I have been on Social Security Disability for a long time.

As such where can a person live ?? I have been forced to live at my parents address for simple financial reasons. I am now age 57. My parents just about to hit 90. It's getting rough around here but as to parents both seem to have a brain left but seem to be failing fast.

I'm dumb for not finding elsewhere to live ?? !!!! Where on a SS Check ??

The residence is a small house in Connecticut. It's beginning to fall apart. well--that's not the issue....

I have 2 sisters and one brother.

One sister is a total vulture.

For years now she has been lurching around waiting and talking about the END. FAR FAR ahead of any demise of this place.

She visits once and awhile (she lives in California and flies here) and acts like she owns the place. Not as a visitor but takes over the place on a visit.

She obvious wants the place sold FAST as soon as parents die or can be put in 'a home'.

Chronically she has been a leech her whole life begging financial stuff off my father, etc. ---- ==father-daughter !!!!==
Once in Alaska she lived and had her cars registered in my fathers name. (and had plenty of
money)

She comes to this place and AGAIN--acts like she owns it !!!

She is here NOW on another good-will mission. She's even buying new bed mattresses for parents beds even though old ones fine !!!!

She turns the whole place around and any property is subject to removal as it only gets in her way. I told her not to touch my stuff!!!! She says everything has to go so she can sell the house/property.

I have nowhere to go nor is one penny of suggestion offered.

#1---it is unknown if she is on any will or a will exists. She has been trying to get parents financial info for a decade or more.

My parents have been a ???? type people. They don't discuss such things. I have a good relation with my father. I would presume with a will things would go to the 4 children--me being one....

NOBODY HAS DIED YET. How do I deal with this vulture ?? Is not my property mine ?? When I say property I simply means basic items like
the computer I'm using now. Does she have a right to take it to the dump or secure it for herself ?? My 4 pack of Dial Soap ?? My canned food ?

I understand as is it's my parents house..until they die....

When they do die does this vulture have a right to come here and take things at her desire or dump things at her desire ?? What are my rights if any ??

Personally I'd call the police every time she showed up. ==but==

I'm here now and she's taking my brothers belongings to the dump and he is not even aware of such. (items still residing at my parents
house)

I can't be the only one confused over this stuff. Good vs. Junk. $5000 of tools trashed..o...they are old....

When parents die do I have any rights ??? This vulture will be here in 3 seconds to sell the house and get rid of all property contents.

Excuse me but this person is sick. Something you might see on TV.

Please steer me somewhere ??? Can I refuse her entrance ??

I try to presume if a will exists it would be split to the 4 children me being one. She can act in 52 seconds and eliminate everything on property ??

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

You have the general idea.

My parents own the property and as such it's their decision as to status of things.

The problem is both parents are about total cripples now...mother about blind and deaf...father has a failing heart...(he just had a pacemaker put in and seems that might not even be helping.)

As to estate/wills,etc. they are so old fashioned it's a subject not even to be talked about. I try to think a will has been made out but don't know. My sister has been playing every con game for years to get
my father to make a will out (to her) but he never says anything.

ooo--it's frustrating...she's here now buying new things for parents which is really 'nice' but they get a bill for it all and most un-needed.

I doubt theres any legal advise/help for somebody like me.--I'm on a disability check-- Lawyers naturally=$$$$$

Once somebody said I might have SOME RIGHTS if I was 'renting' or paying something for living here.

Even though the control of everything is under parents a person living under such in a house owns NO PROPERTY ? ya know...I'm writing this on
an old laptop computer. I paid for it. Somebody can just remove it ? I don't own it ??

If your sibling is taking advantage of your parents, you need to speak with an attorney that deals with elder issues. He or she may be able to help you as well. Yes, attorneys do cost money, but some do offer free consultations. You can locate one through the attorney locator on Lawinfo's home page at http://www.lawinfo.com/. You can also contact your state's bar association for a referral to a low cost or legal aid office.
