Disabled, purchasing alcohol
I'm a 22 year old male. I am a graduate school student. I am physically unable to perform the task of carrying alcohol to the cash register, due to the fact that i'm on crutches from surgery 2 weeks post op. I went to the local grocery store with a friend, who is 20. They do not drink, and i was planning on buying alcohol for myself for that night. Since i can't carry the items desired to the register, i picked out what i wanted and had my friend carry it to the register. The cashier would not sell me the alcohol, because my friend did not have ID. The cashier told me to "go get a cart" if i couldn't carry it, knowing good and well being on crutches prevents that for me. The cashier didn't know the age of my friend. SO, i had my friend drive home, and they didn't want to drive back. I had another friend (of age) come with me to the same store to get my alcohol. The same cashier spotted me (even though i wasn't in her line) and said the store wouldn't sell me alchohol, because i was "buying alcohol for minors." In no way was i buying alcohol for minors, i just couldn't carry what i intended to purchase. I believe this is discriminating against a disabled individual, unable to carry the product. Even when i came back with two males with of-age ID, they wouldn't sell me alcohol. Would i have a case for discrimination or anything of the sort?
