Use the Bureau of Prisons "Inmate Locator" tool on their website:

Is it likely that they are in a county jail? I am unable to locate the person. I read the person was remanded to USM and ordered to serve time with the BOP. But the name does not come up.

If he was convicted of a felony, that means he'd be incarcerated in a prison (jails typically hold people convicted of misdemeanors or that are waiting to stand trial). If tried on federal charges in federal court, he'd usually be held in a federal facility, however, it's possible that he could be being held in either a local jail or state prison pending transfer to the end facility.
You can check the state prison system at:

For your local jails, just Google for that county's sheriff's office - they are usually the ones running the jail, and see if they have an inmate lookup feature.

I agree with aardvarc on this one. It does take some time to have the person sent to the facility where he will be serving the time.

It takes some time for a felon to reach which place he will end up. Just give it a bit of time and take aardvarc's advice and you'll be able to pin point his location!
