Default Credit Card Settlement

Hi

Received a summons for credit card debt. I did answer the summons with the court. Now heard back from the attorney that I need to contact the court to set a time for a pre-trial conference. Considering contacting the attorney to work out a settlement, but would like to know what actions are available to the attorney if the settlement is unacceptable. I know they can levy bank accounts, wage garnishment, etc. Here are some of my facts:

1. I do not have a job
2. Joint bank account with spouse out of state
3. Joint Property with spouse
4. Can they garnish spouses wages when cc account was only in my name. Monthly payments to cc were
made from joint account.

Any tips negotiating the settlement?

Thanks
