My wife, and I have had issue after issue with our landlord.

2 months ago it was agreed in writing by the landlord, and us that we would break the lease.

We wanted out because the house has no heat, and there are mold issues. 2 months ago I even paid half for an test (which is worthless in the winter), and there was still mold found. However even though I was promised copy of the report I never got it.

Yesterday I wrote out our last rent check. We are leaving next month. I sent our landlord an email asking for a copy of the report that I paid for, and I told him I wanted it in writing that they would return our security deposit even though the lease was ending early.

I called him today, and he said he refuses to talk business until Tuesday. Geez, funny because that would be about the time the check would clear.

My question is should I stop payment on the rent check???
