I have a question regarding the Community Property Law in California. My husband incurred some credit card debt BEFORE our marriage. My understanding is that I am not responsible for this debt. However, now he was offered a new credit card with lower interest and wants to transfer some of his debt to this new card. Does transferring debt to a new card automatically make me responsible for this debt along with my husband or is it still "his debt"? Thanks for your help.

Are you plnning on seperating or Divorcing? If not then this really doe snot mean much as the debt will need to be paid and come out of whatever monies you two decide to use to pay it off. Now if you have concerns the marriage may not last then no dont do this
