Collin County mom in need of legal help, PLEASE
I know I am not perfect but I do love my children and they know it. My ex husband and his current wife are sueing me for modification of child support as well as custody. I could have and should have taken him back to court to modify child support when he went from his employer's insurance to CHIPS a few years back but i didn't want to disrupt our children. They are my main concern here. Shortly after our divorce he told me he lost my address and needed it again, so I gave it to him. Then about two weeks later I get home from work and the sheriff comes knocking. They tell me that they are investigating the allegations made against me. I asked them what it was over and they said someone called saying I was allowing my children to be around drugs and that I was getting drunk infront of them. I told them what I thought was going on, giving them names and phone numbers of who I thought was accusing me of these things. The sheriff's told me they would inform the person that it was/is illegal to use law inforcement as a means of harassment and can be punished. They did tell me the person was a female but could not give me more information. I know he had something to do with that based on the fact that noone else had my address or even knew how to get to my residents. I have had other issues since then regarding my children and CPS was involved. The children are both having behavioral issues in school and I'm very worried about their emotional state. Sadly, this is only a small portion of my concerns regarding my children. I am in dier need of legal assistance for my children and myself but due to all of the stress I have been under because of my ex I recently lost my job. I'm tired of the harassment and him being able to control everything. I tried to go through the Collin County Legal Aid Program and was turned away because of the limited assistance at this time. I am also trying to go through Family Solutions Center. They are willing to help but being unemployed and only receiving $250.00 a month before the state takes their $3.00 out, I don't have $1500.00 total to pay for the assistance. I feel even with all of the negativity that surrounds me due to my ex, I still have a case.
