Default How to claim unpaid wages .. ??

1) I was hired in late 09' to work for a pest control company as an office assistant. I was promised $10/hr. My employer had me sign W2 forms, etc. As a result of being employed I enrolled my daughter full time into daycare with the understanding that my wages would be helping me pay for the daycare. After the first pay period my employer told me I would be paid the next time around because I was hired in the middle of the previous pay period. After 5 weeks of working for them, he told me he wouldnt need my help any longer, and that he would be mailing me my paycheck. After a few weeks of not receiving it, I repeatedly called and texted him asking where my money was only to be assured that it was already sent. He finally stopped answering my calls a few weeks later. It has been a year since he let me go, and I have yet to see my check. Out of the blue 3 weeks ago he texted me and asked me if I every received my money, I said no, and he now ignores me AGAIN. I was only recently told that I could file a claim against him through the DOL, but I'm wondering if it sounds like I'm going to be awarded my wages.

2) I'm also interested in being reembursed for the $400 daycare bill I received from the weeks of me working.

3) My unpaid wages would be roughly $2,000 before taxes, is there a limit or minimum for making a claim ?

I appreciate any constructive recommendations.
Thank you in advance.

You are not going to get money for the daycare, but you should be able to get your wages. Have you browsed through the information in LawInfo's Free Legal Resource Center to learn more about your issue yet? See: http://www.lawinfo.com/consumer.html and http://resources.lawinfo.com/en/index.html. You can certainly try to speak to a lawyer to determine what legal options may be available. In the meantime, you may be able to learn more on your own. Search the "Free Legal Resources" tab, or browse the Consumer Resources. Good luck.
