I have had a suit filed on me for debt of a credit card that I had in 1997.I have not used it or made payments since then.I answered the suit with the answer of the statue of limitation prohibits this suit,but the Judge set it up for trial. I talked to a lawyer and he wanted $750.00 to take the case but he recommend that I file for bankruptcy.I cannot afford the lawyer and do not want to file for bankruptcy. Also I do not thank that I owe this money because of the statue of limitation.I need any and all help I can get.The court date is set for 12/04/2006. Please Help.

You can certainly try to defend the case yourself, but I would really suggest that you work with the attorney that you spoke to.

Thanks for the reply. I want to ask anyone out there with any info on the statue of limitation on credit cards in Alabama to send me the info.I am have a hard time finding any info on the statue of limitation.
