Question childrens best interest to see both parents

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I just went through a divorce and got taken for everything. I had to pay her attorney fees, a lump sum of money, half of her credit cards that she ran up that I didn't know about and $700/month in child support. My girlfriend are struggling to get by.

My ex wife took my son to Alaska while I was overseas and filed in Alaska. I live in California. I get summers and half of all his breaks. My son is 6 by the way. The court also ordered me to pay for a reaquaintence period of 5 days for my son accompanied by mother because of his age at my expense. I am in cali and can't afford it! So my visitation doesn't start until I do the 5 day reaquaintence period. She is the one who moved him away from me. The alaska courts didn't care less about my situation. doesn't my son have the right to see me? It is in my sons best interest to be w/his dad too. What are mine/my sons visitation rights?

how can I change this? What can I do?

I can certainly understand this is a frustrating situation for you. I suggest you contact an attorney to determine your legal options. You can find an attorney through the locator service on LawInfo’s home page at: http://www.lawinfo.com/.

If you believe the court ruled in error without having considered your finances, please speak to an attorney about this. You may be able to get the correct information before the court and request a modification of the custody/support order. Each state utilizes certain guidelines in determining child support, custody, visitation, etc.
