Default Child Support Q - PLEASE HELP!

Hello. I am engaged to be married in May 07, but have lately been told some scary stories about my soon-to-be husbands child support. He has 2 children with a woman that he was never married to, and currently has back child support because for both of them. (We live in Oregon, they live in California.) ALSO he is just finalizing his divorce, with his ex wife. They have been seperated for 3 years (the length of time we have been together) and the divorce is just now getting finalized. They have one child together. All 3 of his kids are in California. My fiance and I just had a baby - he is 4 months old, and my fiance stays home with him. Child support took his license away, and he has not been able to find a job. We are VERY low income. My family relies on me for all the income, and I do not make very much at all. We are not even able to pay all of our bills every month. What scares me about this, is that I was told that once we get married, that child support can start garnishing MY WAGES because my husband doesn't work!!! HELP! IS THAT TRUE??? We are so far at the bottom as it is, I am so scared that we won't have any money! And also, we have NO WAY to contact his children! Both moms have moved to no locations, changed thier phone numbers, and gave us NO NOTICE that they where moving!!! PLEASE HELP!!!

Thank you so much to whoever can help me with this.
God bless.

Every state has different laws regarding situations such as these. I understand that this is a stressful situation for you and your family. I would suggest that although you do not have a lot of money, you need to talk to an attorney regarding the legal options. You can locate an attorney through the attorney locator on Lawinfo's home page at http://www.lawinfo.com/. Some do offer free consultations.
