Default Child Support to GrandParents

For the past 2 years I have let my 15 year old son live with his father, since we were having behavioral problems. During this time I thought is only fair to send 1/2 of child support back to him. (The other child is still with me.) Now the father realizes he can't handle his son either. So now he is going to live with grandparents who say they can help. I thought that the same amount of money the father is ordered to pay me I would send it to the grandparents. However, the father says I should send the normal half back to him and he would use 1/2 of the 1/2 to send to grandparents and I would send an equal amount also to grandparents. (hope you followed that!!) What is actually right to do. Legally and morally. Iwould think the same amount that father is supposed to pay me for son should all go to grandparents. I shouldn't give up the 1/2 of c.s. that he is ordered to pay plus another1/4. Father is giving this amount for that son whereever he is correct? Or should I just tell father to send me full amount and it is actually my decision of how much, if any, I decide to give grandparents until court says otherwise (I really don't want to be ugly about it, but I can be).

I would suggest that you get all of this dealt with by the courts. Custody and support. Have you browsed through the information in LawInfo's Free Legal Resource Center to learn more about your issue yet? See: http://www.lawinfo.com/consumer.html. You can certainly try to speak to a lawyer to determine what legal options may be available. In the meantime, you may be able to learn more on your own. Search the "Free Legal Resources" tab, or browse the Consumer Resources. Good luck.
