Child Support Deduction
Hi - I am the noncustodial parent of 4 children. In a recent modification, I was relieved of financial responsibility relating to the medical and dental expenses of the children. I do still, however, carrying the insurance for the children and therefore am listed as the "Insured" and Responsible Party at the provider's offices. I have asked them to change my ex-wife to the Responsible Party, but they have refused. If I don't pay the bills, or if I provide my ex-wife copies of the bills and she doesn't pay them, it is I that they will send to collections and submit negative reports to the credit companies - not her. Is it legal for me to pay these bills on my ex-wife's behalf and then deduct that amount (with a paid receipt from the doctor/dentist's office) from her child support?
Thank you.
