Default Child Support changes

I have just recently became unemployed and the way the market is along with my disability I do not know how long it will be before I can find another job. My questions are: what form(s) do I need to file to have my child support modified or stop due to lack of income? Do I need to file this in person at the family court house? What are the pros and cons to changing child support order? Thanks for you time.

Default RE: Child Support changes

My sons father has stopped working several times and he would go three months without paying his child support and they wont do anything about it. The only thing is that if you go over 90 days and then your ex talks to them they can take you to court. My ex never filled out any paper work on that. Hope that helped a little you can always call the Attorney general if you have a case through them and find out information.

Default ignorance

Your son's father is ignorant to assume that he can do nothing about it. He could simply file a Motion to Modify Child Support due to the fact he has a major change in his resources. If I am not mistaken once a motion has been granted he can then have his case heard and if he is granted to modify the support amount to a lessor amount then he will only have to pay the lessor amount back to the date of the motion being filed. By ignoring it he is only accummilating debt he owes and if he doesn't pay it he could be held for contempt for not upholding the court order. I like to believe that most father's wants to be financially responsible but even the best of fathers can fall on hard times and need help. I just wish there were better resources for those that can't afford lawyers and yet do not qualify for legal aid. Internet has adequate info but not much on general tutoring on how to pursue you particular case.
