Question Car Loan

My husband is having visa issues and is currently in detention facility. So obviously he has no income at this point and i do not know when he is coming out of there.
my main concern now is the car loan - i am okay with giving up the vehicle - because it is pulling a lot of monthly money and i cannot afford to keep it,but in that case car will be repossessed and sold by bank on a wholesale auction and my husband will be responsible for the difference between the current balance and the actual wholesale price ( i expect it to be no less then 4 000)
i literally do not have these money,so what are my options?
plus my main question is - can the bank harrass me in particular if i am not a co-buyer or co-signer,but i am a buyer's wife?
and what can possibly happen to me and my husband if he will just stop paying?

Although they cannot come after you personally they can come after any of the assets that you own together. Have you browsed through the information in LawInfo's Free Legal Resource Center to learn more about your issue yet? See: http://www.lawinfo.com/consumer.html. You can certainly try to speak to a lawyer to determine what legal options may be available. In the meantime, you may be able to learn more on your own. Search the "Free Legal Resources" tab, or browse the Consumer Resources. Good luck.

Have you tried to call the bank and explain the situation to them? Maybe you can reach some kind of settlement deal so you don't have to worry about them seizing your assets. How long has your husband not been making payments on his car note? The sooner you talk to the bank the better, then you'll know where you stand in regards to legal action. Good luck.
