Can I sell a product I purchased?
Hi,
My mother has passed away and she had several products (cleaning) from the company Melaleuca. She was not a retailer and she did not sell the product. I am selling them because they are part of the estate. We are not a business and neither do we sell Melaleuca products for business. I am not affiliated with the company. I am selling something that was rightfully and personally purchased.
I listed the products on ebay. I just recieved a letter asking me to cease the sale of the product because it is a violation of Melaleuca's company policy to sell their product online.
I do not see where this could be a violation. Selling something I have purchased is a personal right. I am a United States citizen. I signed no agreement to anyone when acquiring this product. Am I bound by any law restricting its sale? Is it an illegal substance? Is it their property or mine?
I teach high school civics and see the letter as an intrusion of my rights. I am forwarding a copy of their letter and my response to ebay customer support, the Better Business Bureau and to the office of the Attorney General for the State of Idaho.
Am I missing something?
