Default How can I get my Computer back?

My computer has been with a BAD computer repair company run by a single repairman. I had done good business with the repairman before but things went sour with our last transaction. He told me that he would have the computer fixed in three days...but he still has it. He has had my computer for over 30 days and I am becoming concerned because he never gave me any kind of slip or ticket showing that I ever dropped the computer off at his shop. How do I get my computer back? I have contacted the BBB on the issue and they stated that they had tried to contact the business owner with no luck. The business had an "F" with 25 unresolved complaints.

Every time I ask him for my computer he states that he's still working on it or that he doesn't have it in the shop. He comes up with a new lie every time I see him. I am sick of this. I don't have access to information that I need. I planned on backing up my HDD but my computer failed me and I couldn't even access Windows to copy my files; that's why I took the computer to the shop.

Any suggestions? I fear that if I go to the police they will not be able to help because I can't prove that he has anything of mine; he he never gave me a slip, work order or anything stating that he was going to do work on my computer.
I just want my computer back

You can go to the police or file a small claims action against him. It will be difficult without a receipt, but it will be up to the judge or police to decide the next step. Have you browsed through the information in LawInfo's Free Legal Resource Center to learn more about your issue yet? See: http://www.lawinfo.com/consumer.html and http://resources.lawinfo.com/en/index.html. You can certainly try to speak to a lawyer to determine what legal options may be available. In the meantime, you may be able to learn more on your own. Search the "Free Legal Resources" tab, or browse the Consumer Resources. Good luck.

It would be very difficult because you don't have any receipt or order from the repair man that will prove he will work with your computer but I guess as what mentioned above, you can file small claims action against him.
