Default Boss ran off with my money, refuses to pay all employee's final paycheck

Recently, the owner of the restaurant I work for sold the store because he didn't have the money to pay our paychecks. The paychecks he would issue us would bounce fairly often and the store would have to pay us in cash. That was always a problem, but since we still got the money in the end we all dealt with it. Now that he is no longer the owner however, he has decided not to pay the final paycheck he owes us (from when he was still the owner) and has instead run away with the money. (I say "run away" but apparently my managers are still in contact with him. He's lying about the money and avoiding giving them real dates about when the money will be there which has led us all to believe it will never be there).

I need to know what I (and all of the other employees who didn't get paid and have massive overcharge fees) can do to get our money from this man. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thank you!

You can try contacting your local police or filing a suit against him. Have you browsed through the information in LawInfo's Free Legal Resource Center to learn more about your issue yet? See: http://www.lawinfo.com/consumer.html. You can certainly try to speak to a lawyer to determine what legal options may be available. In the meantime, you may be able to learn more on your own. Search the "Free Legal Resources" tab, or browse the Consumer Resources. Good luck.
