Being sued by Landlord HELP
I moved into a house in late October 2010 after separating from my husband now former husband. I moved into my first rental with my three small children under age of 5.
Upon moving in MAJOR plumbing issues presented themselves with in the first week of living there.
The water bladder broke causeing the water pressure in the house to be next to non existent.
The sump pump broke and was not pumping water..
Then the subcrock back up and flooded the basesment where my children's bedroom is located...
The flood occurred because the landowner failed to maintain the drainage...
The drainage piping he used to pump to the outside of the house was nothing more than a garden hose, This froze in the Cold and it backed into the house.
After SEVERAL attempts to contact the landlord I had the isses fixed and the bills sent to him. He refused to pay and told me I had to arrange other housing.
I was more than happy to move as there was black mold growing in the lower level where my young children's bedroom was. Furthermore my eldest daughter has Allgergies that continued to get worse the longer I stayed in the house.
NOW he is suing me for the bills of repair even though these isses were not maintained prior to the Landlord renting the house. The mold had been there for sometime and had crawled up the wall more than a foot.
I documented all of the mold and the MAJOR plumbing that had been fixed.
Any advise
