My husband and I are interested in adopting a child currently in foster care. The mother has been given visitation but she does not follow the court order. The one year hearing is coming up. Am I correct in that the State's goal is to have these matters finalized in a year but there are some cases that are extended another 6 months but that should be the final hearing? My understanding is that the case worker has not yet filed a petition to terminate the mother's parental rights. Is this a situation that you believe parental rights would be terminated?
