Adopted son/ Hardship letter
Hello. I adopted my son 7 years ago in the United States. He was brought across (from Mexico) illegally by his mother but the adoption that took place here was legal. We have been trying to get his legal status changed ever since. We are now at the point that we are waiting for an appointment in Juarez to prove hardship. Our attorney says it should come sometime before the end of the summer so I want to go ahead and start getting all the document and letters together now. I have looked at the sample letters on the internet but I cant find one that "fits" our situation. He was adopted at 13 (he is now 20 years old), he is still considered illegal and I am a single mom with MANY health problems.Do we have to prove that he would suffer hardship if denied a visa or that I would suffer hardship if he is denied? I am so nervous and feel lost. ANY help, advice or samples would be a huge blessing to us! Thank you in advance, Laura
