My uncle LC has no children and has been in good physical and mental shape until recently. No power of attorney He is worth about 600 thousand and has put my brother on checking accounts and listed him as beneficiary a few years ago.
LC has a stepson who thought he was the beneficiary. When he learned differently, he got LC on a day that he was confused and had him sign stepson onto a checking account. Two weeks later, stepson closed the account of 39,000. He has cursed LC on more than one occasion.
After finally going to an attorney, it was determined that LC needed a conservator and guardian. ONly his Doctor is friends with stepson and refuses to help.
I have called DHR and heard nothing yet.
