5 day intent to vacate/Tempe,Az
Issue is gave landlord letter from my institution saying that my rent check bounced, unknown to me, I did not know that it had bounced. the instution had stated in a letterthat due to their error the check bounced and if they would not penalize me. But no one in the office said to me that i had to make other arrangemnts to cover this check, so i thought they had rteturned it. so 22days later i receive a 5 day intent to vacate letter saying i owed for late fgees as well as NSF fees, but i have been in the office and ran into staff on the grounds no ever said anything to me. Now why would I want to accumulate late fees, when I am on Subsidized housing receive disability check 1xa month lesss that $1000, barely have anything left to by groceries and cleaning supplies

Does your rental agreement show these fees for late payments? If so you might be screwed.

But you say I might be screwed but, I gave them the check on time they just did not deposit it until 2 days later. but did not let me know that i had to pay the rent in another form such as Cashier check or money order until 22days later so i feel that was not my mistake, yes it does say i must pay late fees in the lease and must pay $50 for returned cjheck that is understandable, but Credit Union let them know that it was theior error and not mine because the money wasthere, so they will reimburse me those NSF fees back inrto my account. But it would've helped if they would have said we need another formof payment and i would have done it the very next day. niot 22 days later, why would i want to add late fees to my account? and do you think that is right for them to call the credit union to deliver messages to me, why couldn't they relate them to me themselves?

could you please be a little bit more specific, i did speak to an attorney and he said that they were in the wrong for doing me like that. so should i just give them the amount of what my share of rent is, the branch mamnger said he is saving all e-mails that she has e-mailed to him and taking notes on all of their conversations.

Have you browsed through the information in LawInfo's Free Legal Resource Center to learn more about your issue yet? See: http://www.lawinfo.com/consumer.html. You can certainly try to speak to a lawyer to determine what legal options may be available. In the meantime, you may be able to learn more on your own. Search the "Free Legal Resources" tab, or browse the Consumer Resources. Good luck.
